The Right to Protest vs. The Authority of Local Government to Regulate Protest – This seminar will include a panel discussion on various government regulations regarding protests and citizen participation in public meetings.  The presentations will focus on regulations that govern picketing, public protests and the right of the public to comment at public meetings versus the rights of the government to limit picketing, protests and public comments as public hearings.  Moreover, there will be a discussion about appropriate time, place, and manner restrictions on parades and picketing.

Gun violence is a major issue for local governments.  This presentation will focus on current federal law as it relates to local government authority to regulate guns, preemption of local government gun regulations under Florida law, and history of gun control regulations in America.
